Automobile Accidents

At The Bonanno Firm, P.A., I am here to help you and your family if you have the misfortune of being involved in an automobile or truck accident. Automobile accidents can happen at any time and usually when you least expect it. When automobile accidents happen, most people are confused and do not know how to proceed.
In the event of an accident, here are a few tips for how to handle this situation. The following information is not intended, and should not be relied upon, as legal advice. I cannot advise you until I am formally retained by you and have been provided with the particular facts of your case. You should contact me immediately if you have any questions.
1. Call the Police. If you are involved in an automobile or trucking accident, call 911 immediately and ask them to come to the scene. This will allow a report to be completed and information exchanged. Do not guess or speculate when talking to the police, especially concerning any wrongdoing on your part.
2. Seek Medical Attention. If you are injured or not sure if you have been injured, seek medical attention immediately. When you see the nurse or doctor, make sure you inform them that you were injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Make sure you give a complete and accurate medical history, so the doctors are in a position to correctly diagnose the cause of your injuries.
3. Gather Information. It is important that you, or the someone you know, gather the following information:
a. The insurance information from the other driver. This should include the name of the other driver’s insurance company, the named insureds, the policy number, and contact phone number and address for the insurance company.
b. The names, addresses and phone number of the other drivers involved in the accident.
c. The name and addresses of the employers for the drivers of the other vehicles.
d. The names, addresses and phone numbers of any witnesses to the accident.
e. The year, make, model and license number of the other vehicles involved in the accident.
f. If in the possession of a camera, take photographs at the scene of the other vehicles involved, their positions on the roadway and damage to all vehicles and property.
4. Advise Your Insurance Company. Contact your automobile insurance company and advise them that an accident has occurred. Make sure you tell them that you are seeking medical attention. Do not give a recorded statement or answer any questions from any adjuster or investigator, until you have spoken to an attorney about your rights.
Again, every automobile accident in Florida is different. They each have their own unique set of facts, injuries and damages, and thus need to be handled differently. If you have been injured in an automobile accident in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Brandon, Plant City or any of the other surrounding cities and counties, please contact me at The Bonanno Firm, P.A. and I will personally handle all aspects of your case.
